Ari Stiller Quoted About Workers’ Rights in National Legal Publication

Stiller Law Firm principal, Ari Stiller, was quoted in an article entitled “Citrus Grower Hit With Class Action Over Unpaid Wages,” published on March 11, 2021 in Law360, a national legal publication with hundreds of thousands of readers. The article discussed a recent class action lawsuit filed by Mr. Stiller and the law firm of Kingsley & Kingsley on behalf of farm workers against Bee Sweet Citrus, Inc. The case alleges that the company regularly forced laborers to work off-the clock, travel between fields without pay, and use their own tools without reimbursement.

“In an interview with Law360 . . . , Ari Stiller, an attorney for the agricultural workers, said Bee Sweet ‘cannot use farm labor contractors as intermediaries to avoid liability.’” The article went on to note Mr. Stiller’s hope that the case results in agricultural workers receiving fair compensation.

The case has likely garnered attention because it makes use of a novel California statute, Labor Code section 2810.5, which prevents growers from shielding themselves from liability by using labor contractors as middle men. Here is a link to the full article.
