Ari Stiller founded Stiller Law Firm to build on his track record of success as an appellate attorney. Ari enjoys writing and arguing in court, having successfully handled cases before California and federal trial courts, the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is recognized by the bar as a Certified Specialist in Appellate Law.
Ari graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from Colorado College in 2006 and received his J.D. from University of Colorado School of Law in 2013, where he was an associate editor of the law review and class president. Before law school, he served as a spokesperson for the Colorado ski industry and rode his bicycle across the United States to establish a college scholarship.
Winning on Appeal
Ari handles appeals in a range of areas, including business disputes, employment, and family law. He authored merits briefs at the California Supreme Court in Kim v. Reins International California, Inc., which helped shape the state's wage-and-hour laws. His recent briefing and argument in Nirschl v. Schiller resulted in a published opinion defining the scope of anti-SLAPP protection for certain settlement negotiations.
Before founding Stiller Law Firm, he managed the appellate practice at the respected employment firm of Kingsley, Szamet & Ly. He also practiced on the motions and appeals team at a prominent Los Angeles defense firm and served as a judicial fellow to Judge Paul Watford on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Ari has been selected by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star for 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Fighting for Employees
Ari selectively accepts representation for employees in wage-and-hour, discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts throughout California. He has successfully litigated over 100 such matters, ranging from severance negotiations to multimillion-dollar class and representative actions.
Helping the Community
Ari serves as a lecturer in law at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, where he teaches an LLM class called “U.S. Common Law Analysis and Skills.”
He gives back to the appellate bar by serving on the State Appellate Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and on the California Lawyers Association’s Committee on Appellate Courts.
Previously, Ari served for several years on the Bet Tzedek New Leadership Council, where he helped expand access to justice for low-income L.A. residents and offered pro bono representation on immigration and employment matters.
